EDGAR PONS ACHIEVED HIS FIRST PODIUM

Two points for Solis in Moto2 and one for Garcia in Moto3

The Argiñano & Ginés Racing Team faced three races this Sunday, one in Moto2, in which Edgar Pons started his recovery in the overall standing with his first podium, while Solís added two points to his total; and two races in the Moto3 category, with the result of one point for Josito García.

Edgar Pons, who did not get any points during the first weekend in Estoril, was this weekend in his natural places. Second was the best he could do today, but it is his first podium and it charges him with energy to keep working for the final aim of this season, which is winning the title for the second time. The track was not easy today, with high cold wind. The last riders hindered him in his quest to catch up with Raffin. He was smart.

Benny, meanwhile, had a scare on one corner, went out of track and lost three positions. He started behind but could have finished better than 14th. If he does better in Qualifying, his position could always be in the top10.

In Moto3, Josito García was always to get a point in the first race, although he was closed to the top10 at some moments during the first race. In the second, after a couple of scares, a third gust of wind made him crash, as it did to other rivals in the same category. The important thing is that he did not get hurt. The rider from Valencia proved again that he is fast, as he rode in first at some moment. He needs to Qualify in a better place for his chances to improve for the race.

Moto2 #57 Edgar Pons –Kalex / 2nd: “The race was positive, but not at 100% as we wanted. We did a test for development during the warm up, but we went out to race with the Qualifying set up. In the first lap, Jesko escaped, but after I rode fast and I set the fastest lap. It was a pity that some of the last riders didn’t have a blue fag and didn’t get out of the way, so the race was broken. The wind was high again, Raffin was far away and it wasn’t worth the risk. We took 20 important points. I felt good and happy with the bike. Thanks to the team. We’re again on the podium. I hope from now one we can fight for the win in each race”.

Moto2 #35 Benny Solís –Kalex / 14th: Today’s race was quite interesting. We ran into a couple of challenges and made a set up change for the race, that was really good. In braking it was strong, but then in the corner we lacked grip. Overall, we learnt a lot, for the next race we have more skill under braking and control. I think we’ll focus then on pushing and getting a good bike setup”.

Moto3 #20 Josito García García –KTM / 15º/NC: “It went quite well and I felt well with the bike. In the first race I lost three places in the last corner. In the second I even felt more comfortable, because we changed the rear tyre to one that wasn’t so soft. I crashed when I was eight and couldn’t continue. Thanks to the team for their work this weekend and let’s hope it goes better in Le Mans and we’re able to finish where we belong”.
