THE CATALAN RIDER OF THE ARGIÑANO & GINÉS RACING TEAM HAS HAD A GOOD RACE IN HIS SECOND WILD CARD OF THE YEAR
The Spanish rider from the Argiñano & Ginés Racing Team in Moto2, Edgar Pons, finished 17th today in his second race as a guest in the 2018 World Championship, which in terms of time, is five seconds outside the points.
The story of the race began in the first lap. The Catalan also set out in 17th place, but had lost 5 positions by the end of the first lap, and he even lost one more. But then his comeback started. He was in 20th place for 8 laps and was able to showcase his riding skills in some neat duels. With seven laps to go, he was able to cement his finish line position. He managed to finish ahead of more experienced world championship riders. Edgar already has his mind set on his next engagement at the Circuito de Jerez for the FIM CEV, where he hopes to return to the leading group in the championship. And he is confident of competing in another World Championship race when the Grand Prix of Valencia comes around in November.
Moto2 #57 EdgarPons –Kalex / 17th: “Positive race, pity about the first lap because I dropped a few positions there. We haven’t done any of these races in the whole year. In the Europeans, I start from the second row, at worst, so with all these riders it was hard to control the start. But then I was able to climb back up at a good pace. That makes me happy – I know that I have to work on handling those early laps, which is key in this category. It’s been a positive weekend, working well with the team and the bike, moving forward, and we’ve proved once again that we can race in the world championship.”
The Argiñano & Ginés Racing Team will remain active this coming week, with a new date with the FIM CEV Repsol in Jerez. Edgar Pons and Benny Solís will compete in a Moto3 race and Josito García in two rounds of Moto3
