The Catalan rider of the Argiñano & Ginés Racing Team did a good race in his second wild card participation of the year
The Spanish rider of the Argiñano & Ginés Racing Team in Moto2, Edgar Pons, finished today in 17th place in his second race as guest in the 2018 World Championship, which means his time was five seconds away from the points-scoring positions.
The history of this race started at the first lap. The Catalan rider was starting from 17th too, but at the end of his first lap he had lost 5 places, and even lost some more, but from that moment on, he started to recover. He was 8 laps in twentieth place and was able to have some good fights. Seven laps before the end, he secured his position. He was able to finish ahead of riders with a lot more experience in the World Championship. Edgar is already focused on his next round of the FIM CEV at the Jerez Circuit, where he trusts he will be again in the leading group. He is also confident to repeat again in the World Championship in the next Valencian Grand Prix, next November.
Moto2 #57 EdgarPons –Kalex / 17th: “It was a positive race, though it was a pity I lost some places in the first lap. We haven’t done this kind of races this year. At the European Championship I start from second row at the most, and with so many riders it was difficult to manage the start. But then I was able to set a good pace, that’s why I’m happy. I know I need to work on the first few laps, because that’s key in this category. It was a positive weekend and we worked well with the team and the bike, taking steps forward and showing that we can be World Championship riders”.
Moto2 race at Motorland:
The Argiñano & Ginés Racing Team will still be active next week, with another round of the FIM CEV Repsol at the Jerez Circuit. Edgar Pons and Benny Solís will take part in the Moto2 race and Josito García will have two races in Moto3.
