Gerard Riu adds a valuable 5th position in Moto3.

Vibrant race Sunday that our three riders have offered in Motorland. A passionate circuit and that always leaves unforgettable moments, and on this occasion, we were not disappointed. Especially with Edgar Pons and Gerard Riu, great stars in their respective races.

Once again, Edgar Pons has been the rider of the day. The rider from Catalonia started from pole position and unlike what occurred in Barcelona, he has had two completely different races. In the first, marked by the rain, he decided to not commit any errors and tried to race tactically. He achieved it, as well as finishing before Tuuli, second in the general classification, which meant he extended his lead despite finishing 6th.

And in the second, he won with authority and demonstrating why he is leader in Moto2.  A brilliant race, with good rhythm during the 16 laps and attacking Garzo at the right moment to pass him at 5 laps from the end and finish first.  Regarding his fight for the championship, he is still in 1st position and has increased the difference over Tuuli, to 45 points. Congratulations!

In Moto3, Gerard Riu has offered a new demonstration of all that he has in hand. The potential that with every race he shows and takes him closer to the objective of being on the podium. On this occasion, starting from 11th position, he was able to grow during the race to finish 5th.  It was a pity he lost contact with the leading group in the first laps, because his rhythm during the entire weekend was particularly good.

On the other hand, Iñigo Iglesias was competitive and although he did not enter the points area, his sensations were positive again. The Basque country rider had problems during the official timing to do a good lap, and at the start, something similar happened. A circumstance that impeded his joining the corresponding group due to the race rhythm.

Classification by races:

Race 1 of Moto2

Race 2 of Moto2

Race 1 of Moto3

Now we will have to wait until the end of September to experience the next event of the FIM CEV Repsol. It will be in Jerez (Andalucía), where our riders will start the final stage of the FIM CEV Repsol with the illusion of meeting the objectives fixed at the beginning of the season.

Edgar Pons (6th) + (1st): “I am happy with the weekend. This morning I could have been better, but there are better riders than me in the rain. And I do not want to commit errors and risks.  Our objective was to finish in front of Tuuli in that race and we managed it. That means, objective met.  In the second race I knew that I had more rhythm than the rivals but with the rain we had, we were doubtful about the condition of the track.  I started with calm, reading the race and when there only 5 laps I passed Garzo and went with everything I had. I am very happy, and I want to reiterate my thanks to all the team. We have to continue along this line and fight for the title”.

Gerard Riu (5th): “It has been a positive day because finally it was dry for the race and that favoured me. It was a pity I lost contact with the leading group in the first three laps. I was in the second group and finished 5th.  I want to thank all the team for the good work we are developing, and I am looking forward to the next race”.

Iñigo Iglesias (21st): “It has been a complicated race from the start for me. It cost me a lot to enter the fight. At the end of the race I found my rhythm, but it took me a long time to reach the group I had in front.  Sweet-n-sour race because the start and the first lap were not particularly good, but the rhythm was. Now I have to prepare for the next event”.
