He finished 10th in QP1 after a great last lap

Intensive work session for Gerard Riu and the Baiko Racing Team. A day that has served to mark the value of our rider, capable of being close to the fastest of the category. And, to see the aspects to improve considering the races to come in the FIM CEV Repsol and the future.

Today’s session has included an FP3 where the presence of water on the track has impeded us seeing good times in Moto3. As the laps passed the track became dry, but without being able to see clear conclusions. For Gerard it has been a good opportunity to lap in those conditions, before QP1. The official timing, he has marked the 10th best time, finishing outside the QP2. Our rider has had rhythm and with the lack of experience typical of a rider with few laps in the Motorcycling World Cup.  Finally, he will try to be closer to the top20 starting from the 24th position. That means, a good start could position us in the noble part of the classification.

Tomorrow he will have twenty minutes Warm Up and the race, that will start at 11:20 peninsula time. A perfect session to start of the Aragon track, open the gas and enjoy the emotion of the World Championship.  Good luck team!

Gerard Riu 24º (2:00.069): “It has been a complicated day because the FP3 was in the rain, and although the sensations have been good, the QP1 was in the dry and shorter regarding the FIM CEV.  It took some time to get used to it. I am not very satisfied with neither the time, or the result, but the race is tomorrow, and I am going to enjoy it”

Anscari Nadal (Technical Director): “This is not where we wanted to be, but it is not  a bad position. In front of use there are riders we can beat and based on that, pull. This is learning for the FIM CEV and manage to be on the podium this year. The rider has a bitter taste in his mouth because he says he could have done it better, and I believe so. But he was missing the rhythm of the World Cup. The lap times are shorter, and you play it all in one lap. These are processes linked to experience. For tomorrow, the objective is to do a good warm up and start well and take risks in order to pull. And we will see how far he can get.
