Pons starts from 2nd position and Paasch from 16th
November and Valencia are synonym to end point of the season. A weekend to show the complete general evolution of the team and of each rider, and in our case, to enjoy the title obtained in Albacete with Edgar Pons. A success we will all share with all the fans at the end of the race, but that will have an even better more special taste if we achieve the objectives fixed for these races in the Ricardo Tormo Circuit of Cheste.
Edgar Pons has not made the pole, but his start from the first line tomorrow is like first position. The rider from Catalonia has suffered intense pain in his back all weekend, which impedes him giving 100% on the track. Despite those physical problems, together with the team he was able of finding an adequate setting that tomorrow will allow him to end the season with options of being on the podium, and why not, dream with a new victory. The new face for our team was Brandon Paasch. A rider who during the last season competed with us in Moto3, and now does the same in Moto2, after Taiga Hada confirmed dropping out. His sensations, unbeatable. He finished in 16th position and in the time fixed with the technicians. Tomorrow he will try for the points area.
And in Moto3, we have seen Gerard Riu with problems in both official sessions. In QP2, where he made his best time, he has not achieved a fast lap that shows his good sensations. Tomorrow, from 23rd position, he will try to remount in both races. And the bad news came with Iñigo Iglesias. After 6 laps of QP1, the Basque rider suffered a bad fall, damaging his left wrist. An impact that impeded him taking part in QP2 and leaves his participation tomorrow in Valencia in the air.
Tomorrow we will be in 3 races. Two in Moto3, at 11:00 and at 14:00 and the Moto2 one at 13:00. Good luck team!
Edgar Pons 2nd (QP1: 3rd / QP2: 1st) 01:36.048: “This weekend is being very difficult. The first day that I got on the bike I noticed that my back and spine were blocked. It was very hard to hang off the bike and put all the weight I need at the front, this being a handicap on the track. We have been adjusting the bike which has helped me. I believe we have achieved a good setting and start 2nd which give me confidence for the race. The only doubt is how will I physically resist. This will be a hard race, but I want to finish the season the best possible. Lastly, I want to thank the team for all the work they are doing to help me”.
Brandon Paasch 16th (QP1: 18th / QP2: 16th) 01:37.995: “Generally speaking, the team and me have worked very well today, improving in each session. I have enjoyed riding in Moto2 and learning all the details of this bike in such a demanding session. I had expected to lap at 1:37 and we did. Tomorrow the objective is to learn as much as possible and try to take another step in my riding. I want to thank the Baiko Racing Team for the opportunity and of course, to my sponsors. CCC Manhattan, EvolveGT, Electronic Concepts, Luxestar VIP, Arai and Spidi.
Gerard Riu 23rd (QP1: 26th / QP2: 17th) 01:40.915: “It has been a very difficult day for us. In QP1 we have had several problems with the bike and in QP2 I could not make a fast lap, despite the sensations being very good. I want to ask the team for pardon for this Saturday session and my objective is to remount tomorrow, which seems possible”.
Iñigo Iglesias 41st (QP1: 39th / QP2: NC) 1:42.747: “It has been a complicated day and mentally hard. I wanted to recuperate sensations and focus on all that I have talked with my technician, and after 6 laps, i had the fall, where I damaged my left wrist. This impact has impeded me from taking part in QP2. Tomorrow I will value during the Warm Up if I can race”.
